Steve Peat Steel City Downhill - Saturday 20th

Post by Oli on Thu 18 May 2017 - 11:05

Now then chaps. So Craig can't lead the Hayfield ride as he now has other commitments. Myself and Martin are going to Steve Peats Steel City Downhill event on the Saturday http://www.steelcitydh.com/ which looks like a good amount of fun. Does anyone fancy leading a ride that could take us through here? I've never led one before but there was mention of rides that have been done from round there, do Greeno Woods and end up at the event. Does anyone want to volunteer a ride? Mike do you fancy doing one and making it nice and steady to take in the sites as I know you said you were wanting to come out.

Thanks Oli. I could lead one of the rides from Oxspring but much would depend on the time you want to be at the Steel City. We could work around a viewing time if necessary I suppose.
Alternatively, I could lead a Hayfield ride. It's a long time since we did one of the classics towards Kinder but these usually involve hard work. Bring it on! (but wait for me)

Its on all day Mike so whenever really, just depends how long people want to stay there and watch. Practice is in the morning until 1200 then after that its racing for the next 5 hours so doesn't really matter. Be good just to see some of it.

This is all just a suggestion to see who fancies it but I think numbers are limited this weekend anyway.

Martin has just pointed out to me that we see the pro riders go past at 1400 Smile so it would be good to see them hurtle past.

Ok Oli, lets say the usual start at Oxspring (car park next to the playground) at 10.30 a.m.. I'm open to suggestions as to which ride we do.

Good to hear you got home ok Mike. Hope you are recovering well and doing better today after some rest.

Dunno what I was thinking yesterday, even though I posted 1400 I was sure it was 1500...put it down to lack of sleep the night before. Good ride though even though the weather was pants.
