Wales Trip September 2017
So to make sure everyone is free, almost an enitre year before we are planning to go......I'm proposing the weekend of September 16th, just after School holidays end, should still be warm and loads of time for people to make sure they are free.
Rough plan is same as always, ride saturday and sunday with a night camping. Either Penmachno then Llandegla or maybe Coed Y Brenin then Llandegla.
Post if you like the idea of it and can make it.
Cheers
Oli
Oh and check this out for ideas of ride locations http://www.mbwales.com/ there is a poll so we can vote on where we want to ride but its only got a handful in it.

Re: Wales Trip September 2017
Now then chaps,
So after the planning meet last night there was a general consensus that we should do Coed Y Brenin on the Saturday with Llandegla on the Sunday.
Saturday Plan
Its approximately 3 hours drive from Mirfield to Coed Y Brenin. Dragons Back is 3-5 hours to ride (assuming we would want to do that one or does everyone want to do MBR which is a black route? Not sure on the grading but that is 3 hours but I digress). Approximately an hour back to Llandegla from Coed Y Brenin. So on that note I think we need to be leaving for 0800, arrive for 1100, riding for 1130 finished for 1630, driving for 1700, erecting tents or glamping at 1800, pub for 1930. Now that gives us a reasonable amount of time for errors, tenting, showers, traffic, Bob faffing. Could always go earlier and aim to arrive for 1030 but this is just a rough idea.
Sunday
Depending on the hang over level, Llandegla cafe is open from 0900, riding no later than 1030, back in cars for 1330 home for 1530.
Camp Site

This can be booked online by everyone individually and paid in advance now easily. Good facilities and friendly lady, we do have to pay per car now as well I believe.
Pro's
Cheap as chips
Short walk to pub
Bike storage
Great fun
Con's
You have to sleep in a tent unless there is a camper you can bring
Bed and Breakfast
http://www.llandeglafishery.com/accommodation/bed-and-breakfast/
This looks to be just up the road, decent reviews.
Pro's
Sleep in a bed
Bike storage
Breakfast included
Wifi
Con's
More money
Longer walk to the pub/someone has to drive
Glamping
https://www.pitchup.com/campsites/Wales/North-Wales/Wrexham/ruthin/bryn-dwr-camping-pods/
Just round the bend from the pub
Pro's
Real bed
Mid range pricing
Bike storage
Pub is walkable
Con's
You are sleeping in a shed
The camping can be booked really close to the day we go, even a few weeks in the run up. However the glamping or BnB will need to be booked now to get it organised.
So who is up for this and is coming. Its already in my diary to make sure I don't miss it.

If you decide to go to Coed y Brenin there is a holiday park down the road with log cabins and a bunkhouse http://www.logcabinswales.co.uk its just a few minutes drive to Coed y and there is a pub at the back of the site opposite the bunkhouse and an short walk from the cabins http://www.therhiwgoch.co.uk/ which does pub grub

Re: Wales Trip September 2017
Cheers Jez. I think the decision is that we will be going to Coed Y Brenin and this pub looks like it will cater to our needs, food, alcohol...what more do we want?!
The cabins look good although it appears the bunk house is fully booked already as there is nothing but the cabins when I use the online booking tool, not rung yet but the bunkhouse at £27 per person per night its not that cheap as we can get a cabin for a little more but the pub I think might be the best option.
So the biggest cabin sleeps 8 people (1 x double bed, 1 x twin room (sleeps 2), 1 x bunk room (sleeps 2) and a pull out sofa bed (sleeps 2)) so thats a lot of doubling up if we fill it but I think it might be too much with 8 people in one cabin as there is only one toilet and one shower. Anyway we can discuss but its £238 for one night so split 8 ways is £29.75 each which isn't too bad. http://logcabinswales.webapplicationsuk.com/trawsfynydd/property.asp?Code=3B355&Date=2017-09-16&Nights=1&Passengers=8&sessionid={E8F248F1-E197-4883-AAE9-CFD9588DDEAE}
That being said the pub looks like a pretty solid option. This has numerous options, two cottages (one sleeping 11 the other sleeping 12) at £40 per person per night with breakfast. While this needs to be confirmed its not too bad at all. Equally if we want to camp the pub also has camping at £6 per person per night so a bargain, it doesn't list facilities but I would assume shower and toilet. http://www.therhiwgoch.co.uk/accommodation
So while I can appreciate its only April, if we want to sleep in a house in a bed we need to know numbers of who is going and who wants to pay extra to sleep inside. I personally am quite happy in a tent to keep it super cheap which is what the name of this trip has always been so those who want to sleep indoors need to organize themselves and get it booked.
